The invited session ‘Estimating the effects of air pollution on health using spatio-temporal data’ was held on Thursday 10th September in Florence as part of the conference ‘GEOMED 2015’. The session consisted of contributions from four speakers and was delivered to an audience with around 50 delegates in attendance. Dr Gavin Shaddick opened the session and talked about Mitigating the effects of preferentially selected monitoring sites for environmental policy and health risk analysis, which was followed by a double session related to the project. The first talk was given by Prof Sujit Sahu entitled, On generating a flexible class of non-stationary spatial models using Gaussian predictive processes, while the second was given by Dr Duncan Lee and entitled Quantifying the long-term effects of air pollution on health using spatio-temporal data. Finally, the session was ended by Dr Silvia Liverani who spoke about Modelling highly collinear spatial data: application to pollution and the multiple deprivation index.
