Short Description
This course is the advanced-level structural design course covering pre-stressed concrete, rigid-steel frames, and composite steel and concrete construction. The course will provide students with advanced knowledge and skills to allow them to design complex elements and connections within building structures and assess the advantages and disadvantages of using the different technologies.

Course Aims
This course aims to extend an understanding of and ability to demonstrate the principles and practice of modern structural design by considering the specific technologies of pre-stressed concrete, rigid structural steel frames, and composite steel/concrete construction.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1) compare the technological advantages and understand the appropriate use of pre-stressed concrete, composite construction, and rigid frames in terms of structural efficiency and buildability.
2)understand and develop skills to analyse and design rigid steel frames, pre-stressed concrete and composite construction
