At least 2:1 honours degree in a science subject.
Main Assessment In: December
To introduce students to detailed aspects of current research projects related to sleep and circadian timing, providing grounding for further study to be done in the research project.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
a) Reflect critically on the physiological and psychological mechanisms responsible for healthy sleep and circadian timing
b) identify the main areas where breakdown in healthy sleep systems may occur
c) Critically evaluate the health and psychological sequelae of disorders of sleep and circadian timing
d) Critically evaluate in both scientific and lay terms the impact of sleep and circadian timing in daily life.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
