Students will have the option of linking in with an organisation doing work relevant to Global Mental Health to generate appropriate ideas for the project. Where appropriate, a representative of the organisation will act as a field supervisor for the project.

Students complete a research dissertation of up to 6,000 words (or up to 8,000 words for qualitative projects) on a topic related to Global Mental Health. (70%)

A poster presentation in association with an oral presentation "pitch" of their dissertation. (30%)

 The MSc Global Mental Health dissertation aims to synthesise and apply the knowledge that has been acquired throughout the MSc Global Mental Health program to an area of research interest. The dissertation also aims to enable students to utilise research skills, work under supervision and develop academic writing skills.

By the end of this course students will be able to:

■ Critically evaluate research methodologies to collect data aimed at addressing research hypotheses.

■ Design, plan and complete a Research Project within the area of Global Mental Health, which adds to existing theoretical or empirical knowledge.

■ Synthesise and communicate information relating to an appropriate area of research investigation in an area relevant to Global Mental Health
