The industry pathway involves a select number of students being placed within university partnered organisations (banks, private or public organisations, research institutes) to conduct research that will last around 3 months. These students will be actively engaged within the organisations on a research level and will summarise their findings in the form of a max of 10,000 words dissertation (report).

Industry Pathway: Approximately 8 weeks industry placement followed by a portfolio writing up period (approx. 1 month).

This course aims to:

1. Allow students to explore in depth a selected topic/subject.

2. Train students in the application and the tailoring of acquired knowledge during the programme within the partnered organisation.

3. Enable students to develop their own critical thinking and contribute to the success of the project.

4. Develop a multivariate set of skills ranging from formulating a research question, literature research, data collection (if any), data analysis and interpretation (if any).

5. Engage students in an independent original piece of work at postgraduate level.

By the end of this course students will be able to:

1. Identify and propose the most appropriate knowledge/insights to the assigned project within the organisation. 

2. Formulate suitable hypotheses that could be tested by relying on the analysis of the acquired knowledge.

3. Apply the most suitable methodological approach to tackle the research question(s).

4. Evaluate results and discuss implications. 

5. Design an independent, original, and structured piece of work in line with the university guidelines (i.e., length, layout, citations and bibliograph).

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
