The University of Glasgow (UofG) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with UPES, University of Tomorrow, launching a new academic partnership to enhance undergraduate student mobility between India and the UK.

Under the agreement, students will complete the first two years of their bachelor’s degree at UPES in India before transferring to Glasgow for the final two years. Graduates will be awarded a BSc (Hons) in Computing Science or Software Engineering from the University of Glasgow, with the option to progress to the integrated MSci programme.

India is a key strategic partner for the University of Glasgow, and UPES is seen as an ideal collaborator, recognised for its academic strength, innovative ethos, and focus on sustainability. Together, the institutions aim to co-create opportunities that empower students, broaden global perspectives, and develop future-ready graduates.

Founded in 2003, UPES is one of India’s leading multidisciplinary universities, known for its industry-aligned programmes and strong focus on sustainability and entrepreneurship. Its incubator, Runway, helps students turn ideas into startups with real-world impact.

Professor Rachel Sandison OBE, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) at the University of Glasgow, said: “We are delighted to formalise this partnership with UPES, a forward-thinking institution that shares our commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global engagement. India is a vital partner in our internationalisation strategy, and this collaboration reflects our ambition to create transformative opportunities for students through high-quality transnational education. We look forward to welcoming UPES students to Glasgow and supporting their journey as globally connected, future-ready graduates.”

Dr. Abhishek Sinha, Head of the Department of International Affairs at UPES, added: “Our collaboration with the University of Glasgow marks an exciting milestone in our mission to build globally relevant and innovation-driven academic pathways. The 2+2 Global Pathway in Computer Science will not only enrich our students’ learning experience but also position them to excel in an increasingly interconnected world. UPES is delighted to partner with University of Glasgow in shaping the next generation of tech-enabled global leaders.”

The partnership underscores both universities’ commitment to internationalisation and providing Indian students with global exposure, world-class resources, and cross-cultural learning experiences in a vibrant international environment.
