Meet Clair - Student Life Support Officer

Published: 30 April 2022

Student Life has a Student Support officer dedicated to supporting all students living in our halls of residence.

My name is Clair and I am the Student Support Officer for Halls of Residences. I am here to help students be successful learners, by providing first line support as a listening ear, encouraging, and helping students to resolve issues and difficulties.

Information about Appointments

Appointments are focused on what will support each student to overcome the challenges they are facing.

We start by providing space for students to share any issues or worries they’d like to discuss. We can have a chat about both university and external services that can support and I can signpost to sources of information in relation to areas such as the student's flat, studies, and wellbeing. In some cases, I can meet with groups of students for an appointment e.g. flat mates in distress.

Appointments can be booked by emailing studentlifesupportofficer@glasgow.ac.uk.

Availability and further details:

  • I have weekly availability and can offer students a 30-to-40-minute appointment in the first instance.
  • Appointments can take place online (via Teams), in-person or over the telephone.
  • I work from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
  • I am based at Murano Street Student Village every Monday.

Please note: I cannot offer a counselling service, but I can offer support and information to students who are exploring options for mental health treatment.
