Ramadan

As the holy month of Ramadan begins at the start of the lunar month (17 February), we extend our warmest wishes to all members of our University community who are observing.

Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and connection with others. We recognise that fasting while balancing study, research, and work can be challenging, and we encourage everyone to be mindful of colleagues and students who may be observing. Find out more about Ramadan and how you can support colleagues and students.

This content was created by Professor Lubna Nasir and the Sway was designed by Mrs Keilly MacDonald, College of MVLS.

Lent

Many Christian staff and students will also be marking Lent, a season of reflection and preparation for Easter that begins on Ash Wednesday (18 February). For those who observe Lent, this may involve fasting, prayer, or other personal commitments alongside their usual study, research, and work responsibilities. We encourage colleagues and students to be attentive to the different ways in which people may be practising their faith at this time and to offer flexibility and understanding where possible.

The University remains committed to supporting all faiths and traditions. For resources, guidance, and prayer space information, please visit our Faith and Belief on Campus page.
