2026 marks 575 years since the founding of the University in 1451. Our milestone anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on centuries of impact, while looking towards the future, with our world-changing community around the world.

The below copy and artwork have been developed to start telling the story of 575-years of history to audiences and stakeholders; with further developments to come throughout 2026. Including: an animated version of the 575 badges by mid-February, a Heritage storytelling toolkit in partnership with Archives & Special Collections, and further campaign messaging through the lens of different stakeholders and audiences.

Founded in 1451, the University of Glasgow is the UK’s oldest civic university, and one of the oldest in the world. First established in service of our people and our city, we have evolved from being the university for Glasgow, to the university for the world.
