David Murray Book Collecting Prize open for submissions

The David Murray Book Collecting Prize is now open to submissions from all current University of Glasgow students with an interest in collecting. This can consist of printed books, printed ephemera, manuscripts, photographic material, or a combination of these, with a common theme.

This year we want to hear more about the passions and collecting interests of University of Glasgow students! What do you value, collect and preserve for the future? Why is it important to you?
The David Murray Book Collecting Prize is made available through a generous donation and is open to all currently registered students of the University of Glasgow. The closing date for entries is Friday 16th November 2018.

The prize is in three parts:

  • £500 for the winning entry
  • £500 for the purchase of an item for the University Library
  • One year’s membership of the Friends of the University of Glasgow Library.

We’re looking for originality, creativity and a vision as to how the collection might develop. Think your collection has what it takes to impress the judges?

The prize will be judged by a panel including a book collector, representatives from the Library, College of Arts, Friends of the University of Glasgow Library and the Book Trade.
