Disability Equality Group– Staff Representative Required

Published: 12 January 2018

The Disability Equality Group is seeking one more staff representative.

The University of Glasgow is committed to promoting equality in all its activities and aims to provide a work, learning, research and teaching environment free from discrimination and unfair treatment. To achieve this it is essential we hear the views of our staff with disabilities.

The University is seeking one further Staff Representative to join the Disability Equality Group, to allow for membership rotation and ensure representation at all meetings.

The Disability Equality Group meets three times a year and you would be expected to raise any concerns/problems you have been made aware of by your fellow staff. You will also be asked to comment on matters discussed by the group. These could range from commenting on a developing policy or highlighting accessibility issues on campus.

Staff representatives must be willing to represent the wider staff with disabilities community whilst serving on the Group.  Your email address would be circulated to allow issues to be raised and considered through you.

If you would like to put yourself forward as a representative, please first check your line manager is supportive of your attendance and then contact the Equality and Diversity Unit at equality@glasgow.ac.uk by 23 January 2018.

If there are several applicants the EDU will determine to ensure a mix of service and academic areas representatives.

The next Disability Equality Group meeting will be on 29 January 2018 at 10am–12noon.
