The Scottish Parliament has commended the gift of a rare collection of Robert Burns in Braille to the University of Glasgow.

A motion to the Parliament by the Scottish Conservation and Unionist Party West Scotland MSP, Jamie Greene, congratulated Joan Muir of Kilwinning and the Irvine Burns Club for the donation to the University’s Centre for Robert Burns Studies during National Braille Week.

Mr Greene’s motion, on Tuesday 24 October 2017, “applauds Joan for working with the Irvine Burns Club to help further the bard’s legacy to help make Scottish literature accessible for all, including blind and visually-impaired people”.

Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, has written to Mr Greene thanking him for the motion. The Irvine Burns Club has also separately written to him expressing their gratitude.
