Dumfries campus student Laura Lloyd will be presenting her research at the Universitas 21 Research Conference.

Dumfries campus student Laura Lloyd has been successful in her application to Universitas 21, and will now be one of only four University of Glasgow students invited to present a research paper at the 2017 Universitas 21 Research Conference in Edinburgh.

Universitas 21 is the leading global network of research-intensive universities who work together to foster global citizenship and institutional innovation through research-inspired teaching and learning.  The Universitas 21 Research Conference takes place to showcase undergraduate research to an international audience.

Laura, who is now in her final year of the Health & Social Policy degree said: “I am honoured to be selected to represent the University of Glasgow at Universitas 21. I am very excited to be able to present my research to an international audience at the conference. Without the support of the University I would not be able to take part in this incredible opportunity. I would like to express my gratitude to my academic and project supervisors for their support, it gives me great pleasure to bring recognition to the great work at the Dumfries campus.”

Dr Sandy Whitelaw, Programme Convenor for Health & Social Policy degree said: “Laura is a great student and has done exceptionally well since she joined us with an HNC from Dumfries & Galloway College. She truly deserves this opportunity to present her work at the conference and I look forward to supporting Laura in the run-up to the event. Laura is a great ambassador for the University, the Dumfries Campus and the degree programme.”

Dr Carol Hill, Head of School at the University of Glasgow’s School of Interdisciplinary Studies in Dumfries congratulated Laura on her success. She said: "This is a considerable achievement on Laura’s part – particularly when there are only 4 places across the University. It’s fantastic to have a local student representing the University this year.”
