UofG graduate Corien Staels won £100,000 at Scottish EDGE Round 10 awards for her invention WheelAir, a backrest for wheelchair users to help regulate body temperature.

Scottish EDGE is a competition aimed at identifying and supporting Scotland’s up-and-coming entrepreneurial talent.

£1.3million was handed out in grants and loans to start-up businesses across Scotland at this years’ competition.

Corien said: “This award does not just change our lives, but potentially the lives of every wheelchair user, worldwide”
