The University has launched a new Twitter profile - a fledgling account to sit under the University of Glasgow central account.

'GlasgowUniEvents' is designed to cover the wide range of events hosted at the University including conferences, public engagement events as well as open days and other recruitment activities.

The University's Social Media Officer, Emma Gilmartin, says: "The aim of this account is not only to promote key University events and to showcase the breadth of our offerings, but it also gives us the opportunity to 'live' tweet at key events and to allow our followers to connect with them virtually."

The first burst of live tweeting came at an event on Friday 28 February when the College of Social Science Employability initiative welcomed Claudia Gonzalez on campus to talk to students about her extraordinary career in support of humanitarian causes. There will be more live tweeting from the TEDx conference on 15 March.
