University teams involved in the Tay House relocation project have visited other University city-centre offices: those for the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit and CENSIS, the world leading sensor and imaging systems centre which is based at the University of Glasgow.

The MRC/CSO unit is based at Renfield Street in part of the Herald - Evening Times building. CENSIS is located at the Inovo building at ITREZ, Scotland’s International Technology & Renewable Energy Zone, at 121 George Street, Glasgow.

Over several visits, the departmental "move leads" and managers involved in the project were able to tour the two buildings and talk to the staff who have relocated there.  In both cases, the relocations have been a process of making the initial move and then fine-tuning the offices to match team and individual preferences.

At the MRC/CSO unit, additional high-backed armchairs have been introduced for staff who want privacy and no-interruptions during periods of close study.  It appears that standing desks have also proved popular with some members of staff in the unit.

At the moment, more work is being done on the Tay House floor plan, after significant input from the move leads and representatives in Finance, Human Resources, Estates and Buildings and Planning & Business Intelligence. A Tay House travel survey has also been commissioned from an external organisation and the survey is expected to be launched shortly involving staff who will be making the move.
