This year marks an important anniversary at the School of Law at the University of Glasgow.  Three hundred years ago the Regius Chair of Law was founded by an endowment from Queen Anne, becoming one of 13 Regius Professorships held at Glasgow. Held by a long list of distinguished legal scholars, the Regius Chair of Law embodies a rich heritage of scholarly excellence at Glasgow, including the work and influence of: William Forbes; William Cross; Hercules Lindsay; John Millar; Robert Davidson; Allan Alexander Wellwood Maconochie; George Skene; Robert Berry; Alexander Moody Stuart; William Gloag; Andrew Dewar Gibb; David M Walker; Joseph M Thomson, and most recently, James Chalmers.

To commemorate this occasion, the School of Law has hosted a number of events, including Professor Chalmers’ inaugural lecture, a public lecture on Human Rights and Domestic Legal Traditions by Lord Reed and a tercentenary alumni reception at Clifford Chance in London. The Tercentenary Law Alumni Dinner will be the culmination of this year’s celebrations, as well as a great opportunity to reunite with old friends.

Joining us at dinner, amongst other members of staff, will be Professors Elizabeth Crawford, Tom Mullen, Jim Murdoch and Esin Orucu and we are delighted to have George Moore QC as our guest speaker.

The event will take place on Saturday 28 September 2013 and start at 7.00pm for 7.30pm at the Bute Hall with a drinks reception being held in the Hunterian Art Gallery.
