Industrial Action on Thursday 31 October

Published: 21 October 2013

As you may be aware, members of the UCU, UNISON and Unite trade unions have indicated that they will be taking strike action on Thursday 31 October 2013 in a UK-wide dispute over pay.

Dear Colleague,

As you may be aware members of the UCU, UNISON and Unite trades unions have indicated that they will be taking strike action on Thursday 31 October in a UK-wide dispute over pay. ‌‌‌‌Anton Muscatelli

Staff who are not members of UCU, UNISON or Unite will be expected to work normally.

Students have been advised that, as the university will be open as normal, they must attend classes or tutorials that are planned. Should any students experience  difficulty in submitting work that was due on Thursday 31 October because of the industrial action, it is reasonable that they be allowed an extra day to do so, with any deadline moved to Friday 1 November. Your support for this would be appreciated.

The University very much regrets that the strike is taking place and would ask UCU, UNISON and Unite members to consider the situation fully before making a final decision on whether or not to join in with the action.
