Principal Anton Muscatelli told Court that a Vice-Principal and College Head will be appointed to succeed Professor Pittock when he reaches the end of his term of office in August next year.

Professor Muscatelli said: “Murray is going to devote his attention in the immediate future to major projects funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, including ‘Editing Robert Burns for the 21st Century’.

“I am very much hoping that there will be opportunities for Murray to be involved in a further University-level management role and University-wide projects, in the future.”

Court also heard that two part-time Vice-Principal positions are soon to be advertised. These will cover Research and Knowledge Exchange and will also come into effect from August next year when the current Vice-Principal for Research & Enterprise, Professor Steve Beaumont, will come to the end of his term of office.

Professor Muscatelli said: “Steve is working intensively on our REF submission until the end of 2013, and has led a number of industrial engagement initiatives for the University, not least our successful bid for the Sensors Systems Innovation Centre. Given his extensive experience in this field, he will continue to work beyond his current term of office as Vice-Principal in support of knowledge exchange at University level, and on our relationships with commerce and industry both of which are critically important to the University.”
