Renowned Scottish artist John Lowrie Morrison OBE, who signs his work "jolomo", is currently holding an exhibition of his landscape and religious paintings in the University of Glasgow Chapel.

Jolomo openingThe ‘Vision of Argyll and beyond-’ exhibition is the first time that Morrison has exhibited his biblically-themed work, which represents a significant stylistic break from his iconic work featuring landscapes from the West of Scotland. 52 new works will be shown in the exhibition, which runs until 15 April, six of which will be biblically themed.

In November 2012, Morrison and his wife Maureen were invited by HRH The Princess Royal to become Vice Presidents of Carers Trust. Morrison usually donates a percentage of his exhibition sales to charity and 30% of the proceeds from sales of his paintings in this exhibition will be split between the Student Carers at the University of Glasgow and the University’s Interfaith Chaplaincy for interdenominational use.

Morrison said: “This exhibition is a new departure for me; most of my work is landscapes, painting in particular the West coast of Scotland. In the past I have been involved in painting figurative themes and biblical paintings, but I have never brought all these genres together in one exhibition, it is very exciting for me to be able to do so at the University of Glasgow.”

James Harrison, President of the Students Representative Council at the University of Glasgow, said: "Many of our students are carers for a close friend, relative or neighbor who is unable to manage alone. We are proud of our Student Carers and committed to supporting the vital work that they do. We are therefore very pleased that John has chosen to donate to our Student Carers fund and his donation will have a positive impact on the lives of an often overlooked group."
