Since 1969, the charity Tenovus Scotland has supported innovative medical research within Scottish Universities and teaching hospitals.

Tenovus Scotland, supported by private donations and fundraising events, funds the full spectrum of medical sciences. The principle aim of the charity is to assist young research staff, who have yet to establish a track record, with small grants to get their research programmes underway. Many such grants have been awarded to staff at the University of Glasgow.

Tenovus Scotland also supports the University of Glasgow’s Tenovus Symposia and annual Tenovus Medal Lectures http://www.gla.ac.uk/colleges/mvls/tenovus/abouttenovus. These events are key annual components of the College of Medical Veterinary and Life Sciences research activities. This year our College-wide symposium tackles the subject of Ageing from public health to molecular biology. This high profile free event will attract around 200 delegates and the 2013 Tenovus Medal Lecture will be awarded to a University of Glasgow Alumnus, Professor Gordon Lithgow http://www.buckinstitute.org/lithgowlab.

The event will take place in the Western Infirmary Lecture Theatre on 14 June. To register please visit http://www.gla.ac.uk/colleges/mvls/tenovus.
