A special Burns Supper to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the United Kingdom is being held in Ulan Bator

It seems that the fame of Robert Burns really is international. A special Burns Supper to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the United Kingdom is being held in Ulan Bator on Saturday 26 January. The University of Glasgow is an official sponsor for the event which will include diplomats, government ministers, business heads, educational figures, and local media.

Professor Neal Juster will be there and told eNews: “We have a memorandum of understanding with the National University of Mongolia and are delighted to be able to sponsor and take part in this event. Trade figures are showing that Mongolians are developing a taste for Scottish exports including whisky, smoked salmon and education. The Burns supper will give us an opportunity to introduce another aspect of Scottish culture to Ulan Bator. We hope that prospective students will look to Glasgow when considering what courses and opportunities they would want to take up.”
