Student Services to host U21 ‘Open House’ on International Student Integration

Glasgow’s U21 partners are keen to share best practice based on the findings of the International Student Barometer (ISB)

Student Services will host a U21 Open House event in April 2013 on the topic of International Student Integration. Glasgow’s U21 partners are keen to share best practice based on the findings of the International Student Barometer (ISB) and this event will provide a series of workshops looking at key factors for effective international student integration.

The event will be geared towards Directors of Student Services, senior staff from university services and staff responsible for international student integration.

Topics for discussion will include: 

  • The role of support services in the student experience/ how we identify best practice/ what that means – student satisfaction (egg as measured by ISB), value and impact of services.
  • Student mental health and wellbeing
  • Role of sport and recreation in integration and well being
  • Faith communities – Interfaith chaplaincies and role of honorary chaplains/links with local faith communities
  • Support for families of international students
  • Volunteering opportunities for local and international students and role of student bodies
  • Classroom initiatives to improve integration
  • Induction and orientation

The event is being planned in collaboration with U21 partners to ensure relevance.
