The University is extending its project to adopt a more efficient print strategy, working with its supplier, Canon.

In 2012, the University piloted a managed, print strategy in Student Printing in the Library and in the College of Arts. This project is now being extended to the rest of the campus.

The University's project team will be reviewing print facilities in each area and, where possible, replacing the current printers with more capable, multifunctional devices which will offer staff and students the ability to print from any machine.

Some of the benefits of this Managed Print Project will be:

  1. Reduced carbon footprint from savings in power and reductions in total print volume.
  2. Reduced costs from the implementation of a cost-effective, standardised low-cost for print.
  3. Confidential retrieval of documents from any printer that is convenient.
  4. Improved functionality and machine capability.
  5. On-campus print fleet service controllers for speedy resolution of faults and toner replacement.

More details of the roll-out of the project, and the thinking behind it, will be posted at www.gla.ac.uk/staff/printing in due course. We will also provide updates and information on the Information for Staff page and in Campus eNews and local communication will take place as the project is rolled out.
