1st December was World AIDS Day and the University marked the occasion by lighting up the south face of the Tower on Gilmorehill.

Tower lit red for World AIDS dayThe response to the photograph posted on social media was very positive and the image was shared widely. There was huge reach on facebook with over 40,000 people seeing the post and 80 retweets on twitter.‌

The spectacle followed a series of student run events that ran up to the day.  That included a Red Ribbon Open Mic in the Reading Room and a photography exhibition of portraits of people across the UK living with HIV.
