GUU Stevenson end-date revised

The £13 million project to extend the Stevenson sports facility and replace the GUU Hive nightclub, is now expected to be completed by the middle of 2015. Originally it had been hoped that the works, which have already seen the leveling of the old Hive site would have been finished in time for Fresher’s Week in 2014.

A spokesman for the University of Glasgow said: “As with all major building projects, the refurbishment of part of the Glasgow University Union and the Stevenson sports and recreation centre is complex. We are currently involved in a tendering process that is unfortunately taking longer than we had originally anticipated. The date for the completion of the works has therefore been revised to the middle of 2015, and this significant addition to the student experience is planned to be open to students at the start of Session 2015/16.”

Check your leave on CORE

From January 2014, all staff in the University will be required to record their annual leave as well as other types of leave in the HR system portal, writes Ann Hastings, HR Operations Manager.

Many of you are already using the system and I would kindly request all other staff start to use it with effect from 1 January 2014.  There are benefits to staff using the system as it will show a calendar view of any holidays you have taken or booked, the entitlement you are due for the year with appropriate history and also the calculation and views of balances still available so you don't have to do manual calculations.

You can access your leave in the HR System portal at the web address below within the employee dashboard.

At the beginning of January, the balance will be adjusted so a full year's leave entitlement will show as your opening balance but they won't show until January.
