The Conversation - an innovative media project that allows university-based experts and journalists to work together to deliver trusted, credible information and analysis direct to the public - has launched in the UK.

University of Glasgow staff may be interested to know of an exciting development in the online publication of academic work: The Conversation is an innovative media project that allows university-based experts and journalists to work together to deliver trusted, credible information and analysis direct to the public.

First launched in Australia in 2011, it is now the biggest independent news site in Australia, with one million visitors a month. Since launching, over 5,500 academics from more than 300 institutions have written for the publication.  Contributors have the opportunity to engage in public discourse, build their profile and access a dashboard with rich metrics on readership and global reach.

Articles are published under Creative Commons, ensuring they can be republished and distributed as far and wide as possible. The Conversation has just launched a pilot site in the UK: www.theconversation.com/uk - and is keen to receive contributions from academics across the world.
