The University’s inclusive, friendly and welcoming cricket club is keen to attract new members for the summer season.

Glasgow University Staff Cricket Club welcome new players of all standards so if you are interested in joining a friendly cricket club which plays both social and competitive cricket in pleasant surroundings, please contact us through robert.insall@glasgow.ac.uk or francisjohnstone@btinternet.com.

The club runs a number of teams including:

  • Two Saturday XIs (Western Union Premiership and Championship) - 50 overs per side, max 10 overs per bowler, win/lose cricket.  The WDCU Premiership winners qualify to play-off for SNCL cricket.
  • A Sunday XI (WDCU Sunday League) - 40 overs a side, max of 8 overs per bowler, win/lose.  12 match league schedule and a standard approaching the WDCU Championship.
  • A Midweek XI (Glasgow Evening League & Cups) - Twenty20 Glasgow style!

The "Uni Staff" is an entirely inclusive, friendly and welcoming club, currently boasting players from the cricketing powerhouses of the world including India, Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa, Yorkshire and even England!  We embrace those from the less well known cricketing hotbeds from Buckie to Brighton!  The club is truly an embodiment of the "Town and Gown" ethos endorsed by the University with Professors and Alumni, batting alongside, and usually running out, locals and visitors from around the world.
