The Campaign for Social Science will be holding its latest roadshow at the University of Glasgow on 20 November

The Campaign for Social Science will be holding its latest roadshow at the University of Glasgow on 20 November. The event takes place at the Kelvin Conference Centre on the Garscube Campus from 12.30pm to 2pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

The roadshow will enjoy representation from the University of Strathclyde, the University of the West of Scotland, Glasgow Caledonian University and the University of Glasgow, all of whom are generous supporters of the Campaign.

The speakers include Barbara Doig, Board Member, and Stephen Anderson, Executive Director of the Academy of Social Sciences, which launched the Campaign. There will be a short presentation about the Campaign and then a debate about the relationship between social science and government. This will be followed by a question and answer session.

Please visit http://cfssglasgow.eventbrite.com/ to book a place - the roadshow is open to all social scientists.

This will be the 15th roadshow the Campaign has held since it was launched in 2011. The roadshows are staged to emphasise the value and importance of social science and to encourage support and donations.

The Campaign gives social science a voice by working collaboratively across the whole of the social science community, both within academia and outside, including the Academy’s 44 learned societies (with 87,000 members).

The Campaign has four main objectives: informing and influencing public policy with social science evidence; keeping the media informed with comment on social science issues; speaking with authority on the state of social science; promoting the benefits of investment in social science education and research.
