Changes to confidential waste disposal procedure

Published: 5 November 2012

As part of a move to a new service provider, some operational changes will also be put in place to help improve our confidential waste service

The way in which we dispose of confidential waste is now changing. Following a recent retendering exercise, our contract for onsite shredding and disposal of confidential waste has been awarded to MITIE.  MITIE have indicated that their partner in providing this service will be SHRED-IT. As part of this change we hope to streamline the process to make it both more secure and more efficient.

Colleges, Schools and University Services staff wishing to dispose of confidential waste will now deal directly with MITIE by contacting their helpdesk.  This will be to request waste bags, installation of consoles and the eventual shredding of the waste.  Staff are no longer required to request this service from Estates and Buildings Helpdesk through the works request system.  Full details on how the new service will work is available from the Estates and Buildings website.

More information is available on Estates and Building’s website: http://www.gla.ac.uk/services/estates/organisationstructure/estatesoperations/grounds/confidential%20waste/
