University welcomes Pakistani employers delegation

The University welcomed a delegation of 16 employers from Pakistan last week who held a recruitment fair for Pakistani students in the Kelvin Galleries.

The University welcomed a delegation of 16 employers from Pakistan last week (24 February) who held a recruitment fair for Pakistani students in the Kelvin Galleries.

The event, organised by EducationUK British Council, and the UK Trade & Investment was an opportunity for students to meet with prospective employers to receive careers advice ahead of graduating.

Pakistani recruitment fair Abbas Zamen, 28 from Peshawar, who is studying an International Masters in Russian, Central & East European Studies, said: “I think this kind of event is good because students have the opportunity to speak to Pakistani employers while in Glasgow and get advice.”

The delegation of employers from a range of sectors including energy, car manufacturing, management, HR, engineering, law, retail and food, comprised: Sidat Hyder Morshed Associates, Surridge & Beecheno, United Energy Pakistan Ltd, Indus Motor Co., Narejo Human Resources, Emaar DHA Islamabad Ltd, Engro Corp Ltd, National Foods Ltd, Siemens, Pakistan Engg Co. Ltd, Barclays Bank Pakistan Plc, L’Oreal Pakistan Ltd, Fatima Group, Team-A Ventures, Kings Group, Arif Habib Investments.

Jane Weir, Director of Careers Services at the University of Glasgow, said: “We are committed to helping our international students find graduate-level jobs on completing their studies and this fair provides an excellent opportunity for our Pakistani students to talk with employers in their home country.”

The Pakistani visitors were hugely impressed by the University and the quality of students who attended and are looking forward to returning next year.
