Watch the Olympics in Ultra High Definition

A limited number of free places are available to staff to watch the Olympics in SUPER Hi-VISION.

University of Glasgow IT Services is working alongside BBC Research and Development, Janet(UK), ClydeNET, OBS and NHK have deployed state of the art data networking and video technology to deliver SUPER HI-VISION pictures from the London 2012 Olympic Games to various sites worldwide :- Glasgow, London, Bradford, Tokyo and Washington DC.

This pioneering and experimental technology yields a picture at 16 times the resolution of current High Definition television accompanied by a 360 degree immersive audio experience.

BBC Scotland has kindly offered a screening of highlights of the Olympic Games in this truly immersive experience which feels just like being there, for University staff and friends. This event is a unique opportunity to experience the future technology of television.

When:- Friday 3rd Aug at 13:15 for registration ( NB no late entry ) showing at 14:00

Venue:- BBC Glasgow, 40 Pacific Quay.
