This week, the Royal Society of Edinburgh awarded Dr Rob Jenkins of psychology the RSE/Makdougall Brisbane Medal, recognising excellent achievements of early career researchers in the physical sciences.

‘It’s exciting to win an award like this,’ says Dr Jenkins. ‘One of the things that is great about it for me is that it’s an award for physical sciences as a whole. It comes at a time when I have active collaborations with computer scientists, mathematicians and physicists, so it fits where I am really well. It’s fantastic news.’

‎Dr Rob Jenkins, Senior Lecturer, School of Psychology, has made a number of significant contributions to the field of human face perception and social interaction, for his outstanding scientific creativity, the interdisciplinary reach of his research and his passion for science communication.

Each of the early career Prize Winners is an inaugural member of the RSE Young Academy, established in 2011 to bring together some of the most able and innovative young academics, entrepreneurs, artists and professionals in Scotland, with the aim of harnessing their creativity to develop a coherent and influential voice on behalf of the most talented people of their generation.
