University of Glasgow Art History reader Dr Genevieve Warwick has been confirmed as the next editor of Art History, the journal of the Association of Art Historians.

Dr Warwick will officially take over the editorship from current editors David Peters Corbett and Christine Riding in July 2012 and will hold the post for five years.

Dr Warwick, a graduate of the University of Oxford and the holder of a PhD from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, has been at the University of Glasgow since 1999 and specialises in 16th and 17th-century European art.

Dr Warwick said: “I’m delighted to have been offered the privilege of editing Art History, which has an unrivalled record of breaking new ground, challenging accepted paradigms and publishing transformative research for the discipline.

“I’m keen to use my time as editor to broaden the boundaries of the journal to increase its existing appeal to continental readers and contributors and take a more active approach to engaging with very contemporary art.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of editorship and the opportunity to work closely with the editorial board of the journal.”

Art History, founded in 1978, provides a platform for original historical and theoretical research in a wide range of visual disciplines.
