The Media Relations office is calling on academics to promote the University to the world

The Media Relations office is calling on academics to help maintain the profile of the University as an international centre of research and teaching excellence.

A key part of the Media Relations team’s work is putting journalists in touch with academics for expert comment on topical issues. These comments can be carried in print, broadcast and online media across the world, and provide an invaluable platform for demonstrating the breadth and quality of expertise at the University.

Over 150 academics have volunteered to be called upon for media comment if required. However, the list of experts online at http://www.gla.ac.uk/news/media/expertsdirectory/ is now out of date and is in the process of being refreshed.

Everyone currently on the list has been contacted via email with a request to check their entry to see if it needs to be updated and also to provide mobile and home telephone numbers that the Media Relations team can use to reach them in the event of an urgent media request. These contact numbers will not be given out to journalists without permission or made available to the public.

Many of the academics on the list have replied with updated information and their out-of-office contact information. If you have received an email but have yet to reply, the Media Relations team has extended the deadline for submissions to Friday 5 August.

If you are not currently on the experts list but would like to offer comments to the media on your area of expertise, you can register online at http://www.gla.ac.uk/news/media/expertsdirectory/submit/
