Johnny McKnight

Johnny McKnight is an award-winning writer, director, educator, dramaturg and performer. He is an alumnus and visiting lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. His theatre work includes the award-winning Wendy Hoose and The Incredible Adventures of See Thru Sam. He has been described as the ‘vanguard of post-modernist panto’, with 23 productions under his belt.

In the last few years Johnny has transitioned into TV, working as part of the core writing team for BBC’s continuing dramas River City and Holby City. He has also been Associate Playwright for Playwrights’ Studio Scotland, mentoring new and emergent writing talents. For over 15 years he was Co-Artistic Director of Random Accomplice Theatre Company. As an educator, Johnny has had several educational resources published by Scottish Opera and has taken the role as Lead Artist in multiple CPD Primary and Secondary Teaching modules. He also served as Senior Tutor for RCS Youthworks programme.
