The Centre for Developmental Adversity & Resilience (CeDAR) conference theme is'Early intervention for Child and Adolescent Mental Health'.

We are delighted to welcome two keynote speakers: Professor Vikram Patel, Professor and Chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Professor Prathiba Chitsabesan (FRCPsych), National Clinical Director for Children and Young People’s Mental Health (NHS England).

The conference chairs are Professor Helen Minnis and Dr Ruchika Gajwani from CeDAR, School of Health & Wellbeing, who will introduce the NIHR-funded It Takes A Village (ITAV) project. ITAV will test an innovative approach to improving children’s mental health services, aiming to address growing demand and long waiting times. The team will trial a community-based model in which trained people from the local community work alongside clinicians to provide mental health support.

Professor Rory O'Connor, Director of the Suicidal Behaviour Research Lab, will present ‘Supporting Communities to Understand and Prevent Suicide'.

The conference will also include a young people's debate on involving the community in young people's mental health.

The delegate fee is £85 or £65 for students.
