'These are the sounds, the songs

I drank up as a wee one

Drunk on milk and auld Scots song,

I slept, and cried, and wailed along

My folkmosis had begun.’

'FOLKMOSIS’ is Beth Malcolm’s second album and the story of her musical coming of age. Originally a commission for Celtic Connections, it is a show that has been writing itself since before Beth could speak. Told in three acts, through spoken word, traditional and new song, ‘FOLKMOSIS’ weaves through genres. Act 1 is rooted in the traditional world, the old folk songs which nurtured Beth’s early childhood. Act 2, set against the backdrop of the University of Glasgow campus, follows her ‘rejection years’, when she followed the siren voices of Amy Winehouse, Paolo Nutini and London Grammar. Act 3 is Beth’s coming of age, her return home, as a young woman with a backpack of ideas, to the songs and sounds of Scotland.

This is a show not to miss as Beth brings together eleven of Scotland’s finest musicians to perform 'FOLKMOSIS' in an exclusive full band performance of the album. The University of Glasgow, Beth's alma mater, is delighted to welcome her back for this special performance. This celebratory concert is part of the university's 575th anniversary year, and highlights the exceptional talents of our alumni.

Join Beth and her band on their journey, and let them bring you home.
