About the Exhibition

Views of Glasgow combines paintings of Glasgow from The Hunterian collection with artworks, objects and archival material selected by members from the Woodlands community. The resulting dialogue explores how communities are formed, threatened and renewed.

From everyday encounters to expansive changes to the cityscape, the exhibition considers who owns space; the legacies of empire; shifting identities across Glasgow’s east and west; industry, pollution and the environment; and the importance of community spaces.

Views of Glasgow invites you to consider: What does community mean to you today — and in the future?
