Book Launch: Advent in Bethlehem

You are warmly invited to the launch of Advent in Bethlehem by the Revd Dr Nicholas Taylor, Anglican priest and biblical scholar (Honorary Research Fellow, New College, University of Edinburgh), with guest speaker Professor Bart McGettrick, Chair of Regents at Bethlehem University.

This series of Advent studies connects the Bethlehem of Scripture—where Rachel, Ruth, David, Elijah, and Jesus stand at the heart of the story—with the lived reality of Bethlehem today. Moving beyond commercialism and sentimentality, it engages the lives and struggles of real people, and explores later Jewish, Christian, and Muslim traditions.

Drawing on his teaching in Britain, Central and Southern Africa, and his time as Scholar in Residence at the Tantur Ecumenical Institute, Dr Taylor offers a distinctive perspective. In conversation with Professor McGettrick, the event will open a space for thoughtful reflection and dialogue across faiths and communities.

Glasgow University Memorial Chapel, Tuesday 9 September 2025, 3.30 p.m. (BST)
