IDEAMAPS Network, Urban Big Data Centre
Date: Friday 15 September 2023
Time: 13:00 - 13:45
Venue: Online (Zoom)
Category: Academic events, Staff workshops and seminars

The Integrated Deprived Area Mapping System (IDEAMAPS) Network brings together silo-ed "slum" mapping traditions to generate maps of urban deprivation routinely and accurately at scale across cities.

Our online “Slum” Modelling Community of Practice will meet informally approximately 8 times per year. Please join one of two initial information sessions to meet other modelers in the community, shape the direction of this group, and share your availability for (bi)monthly meetings.

Aim:

This regular zoom meeting is coordinated by the IDEAMAPS Data Ecosystem Project within the broader IDEAMAPS Network to convene individuals that model slums, informal settlements, and other deprived urban areas in the Global South using machine-learning/AI techniques and open data sources. The aim is to share ideas that might help us all to develop more accurate, scalable, relevant results.

Format:

This is a creative space shaped by us where unfinished and bold ideas are welcomed. We aim to keep each meeting small (<20 people) and semi-focused around a topic to promote productive exchange. NO presentations, please! However visuals are welcomed, for example, showing results of a paper, a website, or a single slide.
