About

Satwinder Pal Singh is a decorated Sarangi player from Punjab, India. He decends from a celebrated family of musicians and has won countless awards for his musicianship, including being awarded by Government of India with a Presidential Award for his career, and becoming the number one Gold Medal Sarangi Player by All India Radio competition. He is a frequent collaborator and has toured across the world as a performer. We are absolutely delighted to welcome Satwinder to perform at University of Glasgow in a duo with Glasgow's very own Sodhi on tabla.

Sodhi is an acclaimed musician and prolific collaborator in Scotland and beyond, touring worldwide and receiving exceptional recognition for his recordings and experimental curation of music across genres. He's regularly seen at Celtic Connections, and leads a great many accomplished groups and initiatives in Scotland including Glasgow Mela Festival, Scottish Creative Asian Network and the Talking Tabla Network in Glasgow.

Venue

Our Thursday Professional Lunchtime Series is held in the University Concert Hall which is situated in the Main Building (Gilbert Scott), just below the Hunterian Museum.

You can access the Concert Hall through three different doors:

  • West Quad through the door to the toilets and Hunterian lift
  • East Quad entering through the Hunterian Staircase door
  • East Quad entering through the external corridor to Hunter Halls
  • MAP

Tickets

We currently have no requirement for pre-booking your FREE ticket! Just turn up at 12.45pm to ensure your seat. Once the Concert Hall is full to capacity, we will be closing doors. Please note the capacity of the Concert Hall is 128 people. Latecomers will not be admitted.
