This year’s James McCune Smith Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Professor David Blight. David is the Sterling Professor of History, of African American Studies, and of American Studies and Director of the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition at Yale University. He is one of the leading historians of slavery and the US Civil War and is well-known for his incisive political commentary. His latest book, Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in History.
