Date: Thursday 31 January 2019
Time: 12:00 - 15:00
Venue: LEADS teaching room, Southpark House
Category: Academic events
Speaker: Professor Gwen van der Velden, University of Warwick
Website: www.glasgow.ac.uk/leads/events

Having worked on tackling the parity question for over twenty years, Professor Gwen van der Velden (Warwick) discusses some of the underpinning values of academic status and esteem. In a one hour seminar Gwen will relate esteem to the academic prestige economy, hidden inequality and seeks to redefine implicit and often historic values that support the divide between research and teaching.

After the formal seminar a two hour roundtable will be offered to explore some of the issue in more depth and discuss realistic ways to change existing patterns.

Lunch will be provided.

Please note that these CPD workshops are only open to University of Glasgow staff (including Graduate Teaching Assistants / Demonstrators). Colleagues from validated institutions are, however, welcome to attend sessions delivered by invited external speakers.
