Short Description
This course develops essential human and professional skills to support effective, safe, and sustainable practice. Through exploring self-leadership, communication, decision-making, teamwork, and professional wellbeing, students will build self-awareness, enhance collaboration, and understand the human factors that influence performance and safety in professional environments.

Course Aims
This course aims to:
■ To develop a comprehensive understanding of human skills such as communication, self-leadership, and emotional intelligence, and their critical role in enhancing professional effectiveness and fostering collaborative team dynamics.
■ To cultivate the ability to critically engage with and integrate theoretical perspectives on decision-making, situational awareness, and problem-solving, preparing graduates to navigate and respond effectively within complex professional contexts.
■ To foster the ability to critically reflect on the interconnectedness of professional wellbeing, resilience, and sustainable performance, whilst supporting the formulation of strategies that promote long-term personal growth and organisational development.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
1. Critically discuss appropriate human skills such as communication, self-leadership, and emotional intelligence, in the context of enhancing professional effectiveness and team performance.
2. Critically evaluate relevant theory on decision-making, situational awareness, and problem-solving and apply it to complex professional situations.
3. Reflect critically on the relationship between professional wellbeing, resilience, and sustainable performance, identifying strategies for personal and organisational development.
4. Evaluate and discuss the application of appropriate human skills to support professional wellbeing, team performance, and collaboration.
