Short Description

Cross-Cultural Management focuses on how cultural differences influence individual behaviour, communication, leadership, teamwork, and management practices in international business settings.

 

The course provides students with key cultural theories and frameworks for understanding national cultural differences and develops their ability to manage effectively across diverse cultural contexts. Through case studies, discussions, and reflective learning, students gain practical skills for working in multicultural teams and addressing cross-cultural challenges in international organisations.

The course aims to:

 

■ Provide a critical understanding of how culture is conceptualised, how it influences international business and management practice, and how cultural differences can be managed effectively.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

 

1. Critically evaluate the major theoretical models and empirical studies of national cultural differences, highlighting their contributions and limitations.

 

2. Develop an awareness of the implications of cross-cultural differences for international business strategies, operations, business ethics, and multinational management.

 

3. Develop international management skills and competencies through critical reflection on strategies for mitigating cross-cultural challenges.
