Short Description

This course develops understanding of the design and management of supply chains, including supply chain relationships, transportation and managing supply chain risk within and between organisations.

Requirements of Entry

University of Glasgow students must have achieved Subject Honours entry requirements as detailed below to enrol on this course. A GPA of 12 (average C3) in the following courses with no course grade below D3, attained at the first attempt:

 

■ MGT2010 - Business Decision Analysis

■ MGT2011 - Fundamentals of Human Resource Management

■ MGT2012 - Service and Operations Management

■ MGT2014 - Entrepreneurship

Course Aims

This course aims to provide an understanding of the design and management of supply chains, including purchasing, supply and logistics, within and between organisations. This will include a study of:

 

■ Relationships in supply chains.

 

■ The design and implementation of supply chains, including risk, resilience and sustainability.

 

■ Forms of transportation and issues of security.

 

■ Procurement and inventory management.

 

■ Tools and frameworks used in the sourcing process.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

 

■ Evaluate appropriate approaches to managing supply chain relationships.

 

■ Identify and evaluate key features of supply chain design.

 

■ Analyse supply chain risks and suggest appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

 

■ Formulate key elements of the sourcing process.

 

■ Develop team-working skills by working effectively to solve problems in groups, giving and receiving feedback, to produce an output.
