Short Description
This course studies how cultural enterprises are shaped by local contexts (e.g. history, culture, political systems) as well as global forces such as globalisation, international development, and digitalisation/platformisation. Through case study led teaching, students will examine issues facing diverse enterprises, including mainstream organisations as well as alternatives like co-ops, and examples will be drawn from across the globe. The course will emphasise practical elements of arts and culture, and the implications of economic, management and policy decisions and students will develop their problem-solving skills in the face of these challenges through working in groups with real cases.
