Short Description

NB: This course is delivered asynchronously ie the course materials are provided on Moodle (our online learning platform) to allow self-paced learning, with no live online sessions.

The Late Period of Egypt (664-332 BC) is an important phase of Egyptian pharaonic history, in which varying stability under foreign rulers resulted in a cultural 'melting pot' of beliefs, influences and interactions that impacted upon many aspects of Egyptian material culture. The early phases of the Late Period are often referred to as a renaissance period for Egyptian art, with many examples of high quality realistic sculpture and metalworking showcasing artistic skills. Through key examples of impressive architecture, sculpture, and reliefs from tomb and temple decoration, this course will explore the striking artistic evidence and the impact of external cultures within this dynamic period of Egyptian history. This course is taught entirely online.
