At the intersection of healthcare delivery and innovation, the Clinical Innovation Zone (CIZ) is a partnership between the University of Glasgow and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (NHSGGC), created with support from Glasgow City Region. Located in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital campus, CIZ offers businesses a truly collaborative ecosystem. Here, entrepreneurs, clinicians, researchers, and students work in partnership to develop the next generation of healthcare solutions.

CIZ offers over 14,000ft² tenant-licensed spaces across 54 units of flexible hot desk, office and laboratory space, located within largest hospital campus in Scotland.

The Clinical Innovation Zone is home to a mix of local and international companies, including start-ups and spin-outs, small and medium-size enterprises and multinational corporations.

The Clinical Innovation Zone (CIZ) expands across our neighbouring buildings, Imaging Centre of Excellence (ICE) and Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC). The buildings house University, NHSGGC, and industry personnel under one roof, enabling a dynamic and integrated hub for healthcare innovation. All Clinical Innovation Zone tenancies receive basic amenities in addition to the exclusive benefits the space has to offer.

Location
The Clinical Innovation Zone is located on the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus and is a part of the Glasgow Riverside Innovation District (GRID).
Health Innovation Hub (HIH)
Joining GRID in Autumn 2025 will be the Health Innovation Hub (HIH). A new collaboration between the University of Glasgow and Kadans Science Partner, enabled by the Living Laboratory Programme which is supported by UKRI’s Strength in Places Fund.
Located adjacent to CIZ, HIH will provide the infrastructure for the next stage in growth for healthcare companies. CIZ & HIH work in partnership to support the needs of industry and together, strengthen Glasgow’s position as a leader in healthcare innovation.
